The Church has been baptizing believers for 2000 years as a way to publicly declare allegiance to Jesus. While public baptisms can seem overwhelming for some, it is the prescribed method for public declaration of our faith and can be viewed as a “sermon without words.” Public baptism is an act of obedience that symbolizes the faith a believer has placed in Jesus. We’ve developed this page to help you navigate the process that we use at RADIUS Church.

We handle baptism like we handle lots of things around RADIUS – very relationally. We do like to sit down and have a conversation about your understanding of the Gospel and how it has impacted your life. We believe that the Christian walk cannot be done in isolation. As such, we also like to help you find a mentor, accountability partner, or a community group to be a part of to strengthen your walk with Jesus

The Process

1. Contact us to let us know you would like to be baptized.

While we believe baptism is an important step of faith, it is also one that requires that you take the initiative. A simple email will let us know you’re interested in taking this step. You can reach out to us here.

2. Sit down with a pastor to talk about your decision.

We believe it’s important to sit down across the table from one another and talk about your decision. We also like to hear how the Gospel has impacted your life so that we can best pair you with someone who can help you keep walking with Jesus after baptism.

3. We’ll pair you with a mentor and a community group (if age appropriate).

Because we believe baptism is just one step on a life-long journey of following Jesus, we want to make sure you are living in community with other believers. We’ll help you find a mentor, accountability partner and / or a community group to surround you with other followers of Jesus who want the best for you.

4. Invite your family & friends to your baptism.

Not only is baptism a public display of your allegiance to King Jesus, it’s also a great opportunity for you to gather your friends and family to celebrate your new life. We’ll equip you with some invitations to invite those closest to you to celebrate with us on your baptism day.

5. Get baptized.

We regularly schedule baptisms to allow folks to take this important step of faith throughout the year.

Optional: Write out your story and share it (with us or with a friend).

Everyone has a story. Everyone’s story is important to God. We believe that everyone’s story has power too. Sharing your story is a great way to tell of God’s activity and goodness in your life. We’ve even developed a short form that will help guide you in writing out your story so that you can become a powerful storyteller of God’s activity. If you would like to share your story, we’d love to help you.
