John 1: 1-5

This week we began our journey into the Gospel of John. For the next several months we will be walking through the life and teachings of Jesus as told to us by someone who walked with Him.

John’s gospel begins with a simple, but theologically rich passage. We started our study of this book by looking at just the first five verses. While the language is simple (and John seems to repeat himself), John is trying to convey to us the mystery of how God became man in Jesus. Further he leads us to the mystery of how Jesus could be fully man and still be the eternal God. Why would the eternal Creator – the One who made everything and breathed life into it – leave Heaven and Eternity to enter His creation (and with it, the limitations of time)? Why would the King of the Universe become a baby? Because He loves you. He wanted you to know that He can relate to you. He wanted to provide a path back to peace with Him. This is a pivotal point in understanding the Gospel and walking in new life with Jesus. As we strive to be better priests in our radiuses (at home, at work, at the ballfields), we must first understand this truth and the implications for our lives.

If you would like to begin a conversation about following Jesus or would like to talk more about how your story and the Gospel connect, we would love to hear from you.
