John 17:13-21

For the next several months we will be walking through the life and teachings of Jesus as told to us by someone who walked with Him, the Apostle John.

This week we talked about how we are on mission in this world. In John 17 we witness Jesus praying for His disciples and then praying for us – those who would believe because of them. He prays that we would be holy (set apart; different), but that our holiness would help us on our mission (17:18). Oftentimes we confuse our mission and our need for holiness – wanting to be too much a part of the world in order to relate to it, instead of being “in the world, but not of the world”.

Jesus never asked us to hide away and keep ourselves or those we love dearly safe, but instead to engage this world and show them the truth that we have within us.

We can ask ourselves “Are you in the world but not of it? Or are you in the world and look just like it?”  You can comment below or send us an email here.

If you would like to begin a conversation about following Jesus or would like to talk more about how your story and the Gospel connect, we would love to hear from you. If you have questions, please feel free to ask them here.
