John 1: 29-33

For the next several months we will be walking through the life and teachings of Jesus as told to us by someone who walked with Him, the Apostle John.

This week we picked up another small section of our introduction to John the Baptist. John the author of the Gospel takes just a few verses in chapter 1 to tell us about the baptism of Jesus. We spent some time talking through how the four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John) work together to help us better understand the life and teachings of Jesus. If you are interested in following our Gospels Reading Plan, you can check it out here.

We spent a great deal of time talking through how John’s baptism (with water) was meant to show people their need for cleansing. As followers of Jesus we are baptized by the Holy Spirit – a baptism that should be evidenced in our actions. Further, as an act of obedience when we follow Jesus, we are to be baptized with water to publicly declare our allegiance to King Jesus.

We will be hosting a baptism service on March 6, 2016. If you would like to make this public declaration of your faith in Jesus, you may contact Brian Kirkland here.

If you would like to begin a conversation about following Jesus or would like to talk more about how your story and the Gospel connect, we would love to hear from you.
