June 2017: Fun Leads to Discipleship

June 2017: Fun Leads to Discipleship

With Summer officially here, many families could be wondering: “How do we continue to disciple our children throughout the Summer?” Summer is a great opportunity to use fun activities to build the discipleship culture in your family. Fun times and memories build relationship. The other big question that comes up is, “so then, what do we do?” The fear is that it has to be a grand gesture or big family vacation. For some that works, but for others a simple trip to the park, the zoo, the lake, or a friend’s pool can accomplish the same goals. Through these days our kids get to experience God and enjoy Him. We want to encourage you to find some time every week to enjoy your kids. Don’t get so caught up in life that you miss out on the joys God has built into this world for us. Have fun this summer! If you have questions or need help finding a direction to go, send us an email RFD@radiuschurch.org.

Kids Rock! We’re excited to celebrate kids with a “rocking good time” this summer. Throughout the summer, our preschoolers will be introduced to people in the Bible who did amazing things while they were still kids. They rocked because they did what God wanted them to do, and our preschoolers can do that too. In June, we’ll hear the stories of Jesus in the temple, young Samuel learning to listen to God, and two stories of young David. We’ll learn how David was chosen to lead and be king when he was just a kid, and then how he was brave and defeated a giant with just a sling and a stone. In July, Daniel, Miriam, Josiah, a young boy and his lunch and Timothy will continue to help our preschoolers learn that they can do what God wants them to do. Click here to find neat ways to show your kid that they can accomplish what God wants them to do!

From the opening pages of Scripture, we encounter God’s creativity in action. With words, Let there be light, the poem of creation unfolds as light gives way to time, oceans and mountains form, galaxies are set in motion, and the earth is filled with birds, fish, and every creature imaginable. But God is not finished creating. God decided that He wanted His image to populate the earth. He created people in His image to take care and develop His magnificent creation. Humans are unique in that we reflect God in how we interact with each other and the world around us. That interaction includes God’s creativity. We may not form mountains and oceans, but we create art and music, build cities, solve problems, and innovate technology—all of which starts with our God-given creativity.

We think it’s important for us to help our kids and families discover more about Creativity—imagining what you could do because you are made in God’s image. We want to better equip you as parents so click here to find ways you can lead conversations in your home!

Middle School Parents

Summer has arrived! What are RADIUS Middle Schoolers going to be up to for the next few weeks? We’ll be playing some relationship-building games, playing on the lake, enjoying super hero-themed bowling nights, and a lot of other fun events. My personal goal is to give them an opportunity to learn more about me as their new leader, while helping them stay connected with one another. I hope that we connect and get to know one another on a deeper level. While we will be focusing on having a lot of fun, we also want to use these outings to help our Middle School students grow deeper in their faith in Jesus or – better yet – introduce them to faith in Jesus. How cool of a Summer would that be? Please know that these events are not RADIUS exclusive. So, encourage your kids to invite other family members and friends that might be looking for a safe place to hang out and have fun this Summer. We want to better equip you as parents so click here to view the full Summer schedule!

High School Parents

With school coming to a close that means it’s officially Summer! This Summer our High School Students will be spending time on Lake Murray, at various pools, and going on short day trips around Lexington. All of these trips are designed to build community and strengthen relationships between the students and leaders that lead their small groups. This is a great opportunity to bring a friend or neighbor who doesn’t know Jesus or wouldn’t typically come to a church gathering. Jesus called us to make disciples, and making disciples starts with friendships that change over time. Encourage your student to answer the question, “who are you praying for?” and tell them to invite that person. Who do they hang out with that doesn’t know Jesus. Invite that person. This Summer will be a blast! Click here to download our full Summer schedule.
