Time Flies

Time Flies

We’ve all heard the statement, “time flies!”  This is most true during the 936 weeks of a child’s life between birth and graduation.  This month we want to encourage you to slow down and make the most of the limited time you have during those 18 years.  Because our time is short we need to focus on the right things. In Deuteronomy 6:5-8 Moses tells the Israelites what to focus on and when to do it.  He says, “And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.”  He goes on to say in verse 7, “Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”  In other words, talk about Him all throughout your day because in the end, nothing matters more than your child’s relationship with God.

Two action items for parents that can help get you started:

  1. Pray with your spouse for the time your child becomes a believer in Jesus Christ.
  2. Think of 3 qualities or characteristics you want your child to have by the time they’re 18; not what you want them to do but who you want them to become.

These two actions will help you navigate situations that arise. Remember: our children are one of the best opportunities for us to make disciples. That short window of time that they are in our care is such a small amount of time to make a huge impact. We should use our time wisely. If you have questions or need help finding a direction to go, send us an email RFD@radiuschurch.org.

Preschool Parents

Easter is always such a beautiful reminder that we have such a good, good Father. During May, we want to continue teaching our preschoolers more about the Father who sent His only Son to be our friend forever. As we travel through the stories of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Hagar, Gideon, and Daniel, your preschoolers will learn that:  God is always with me. God hears me and gives me what I need. God teaches me the way to go. God protects me. It’s a fantastic month that is sure to help your preschoolers know that God is with them all the time. We think it’s important for us to help our kids and families discover more about determination—deciding it’s worth it to finish what you started. When Jesus gave His disciples the incredible mission of spreading the message of the Gospel throughout the world, He didn’t make them do it alone.  Instead, He sent the Holy Spirit to empower them to show faith and determination in the face of whatever might happen along the way.  When we put our faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit empowers us to finish what we start. We want to better equip you as parents so click here to find ways you can lead conversations in your home!

Middle School Parents

Speed limits. Data limits. Time limits. Age limits. There’s nothing fun about having limits set between us and what we want. And although some limits are good, most of the time it just feels like we’d be better off without them. Many of us feel like our lives, our stories, and our futures are limited in one way or another—like who we are and who we can become have limits. This was especially true for one of the earliest and most famous guys in the Bible, Moses. Because of who he was, where he came from, and what he did, Moses must have felt like his potential was limited. But God had other plans. And through Moses’ story we’ll discover that when we allow God to direct our story, the possibilities are limitless. High School Parents

As we wrap up the Easter holiday I am reminded that we don’t need to leave the celebration of Christ’s resurrection in the rear view mirror. Fortunately for us, our high school students are going to be entering into the section of scripture that focuses on prophecy. If you’re new here, our high school students are currently in a 6 month series that we’re calling a “fly by” of scripture. It is our goal to give students a grasp on the entirety of God’s Word and how it all fits together. So far we’ve covered the beginning, creation, the fall, God’s first humans, the forefathers of our faith, and now we get to take a dive into the prophecies about our savior. This month, we will focus on Isaiah, Daniel, and the first few chapters of Luke. This will be a great opportunity to continue remembering Easter and what Christ has done for us!
