Distractions

Chris Seeby spoke to us this week about distractions. So often we can become selfishly absorbed by our earthly possessions that we miss Jesus calling us to something greater – something holy. 1 Corinthians 7:30-31 says, “Those who weep or who rejoice or who buy things should not be absorbed by their weeping or their joy or their possessions. Those who use the things of the world should not become attached to them. For this world as we know it will soon pass away.” The evil one strives to distract us by foolishly adjusting our focus toward material things that are destined to rust and wither. Jesus desires for us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness as true fulfillment is found only in Him. For if our destiny is eternal life with Him, how much more should our desires be of heavenly origin?

Do you find yourself longing more for stuff rather than a fulfilling relationship with Jesus? If you would like to begin a conversation about following Jesus or would like to talk more about how your story and the Gospel connect, we would love to hear from you. If you have questions, please feel free to ask them here.

God is doing great things beyond our radius! Yesterday, we watched a short video of Jan Vezikov – pastor of Mosaic Boston – explaining the need for the Gospel in Boston. To learn more about Jan (pronounced “Yon”) and his church, watch the full video here.
