Cleaving – 1 Corinthians 6

“Biblical Christianity may be the most body-positive religion in the world. It teaches that God made matter and physical bodies and saw that is was all good. It says that Jesus Christ Himself actually took on a human body and that someday He’s going to give us all perfect, resurrected bodies. It says that God created sexuality and gave a woman and a man to each other in the beginning. The Bible contains great love poetry and celebrates sexual passion and pleasure. If anyone says that sex is bad and dirty in itself, we have the entire Bible to contradict them.”

– Timothy Keller, The Meaning of Marriage

This week we talked about sex. We talked about God’s intent for sex inside of marriage and the dangers of sex outside of marriage. We spent the majority of our time together looking at 1 Corinthians 6 and the difficulties of living in sexual sin. Though the topic was heavy, when we concluded our time together it was very apparent that if we have bowed our knee to Jesus, He has cleansed us – justified us even – from our past failures in this arena. For those who continue to struggle in the area of sexuality or with sexual sin, there is great hope. Hope for a better future and freedom from bondage, because of the work of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit. If you missed out, you can watch the video on our website or listen to the audio here.
