Rooted: Week 5
We picked back up in our series this week as we looked at the beginning of the third chapter of 2 Peter. Peter opens his letter with a pattern for living that we should follow and a reminder of God’s goodness. He then turns his sights to warning the Church about false teachers – those who would do harm to the Church and to the Gospel by denying and making light of the return of Jesus. In the third chapter, Peter helps to re-center the Church on this central truth – Jesus is going to come back and when He does, we need to be ready. Peter’s warnings to hold to the truth of the Gospel are so that we might be ready to proclaim the goodness of Jesus and the truth of His return to the world. Peter’s goal is to change our perspective and our understanding that Jesus is not delaying His return so that it stresses us out, but so that we have every opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel. If you’ve never responded to the Good News of Jesus, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out to us via email and let’s start a conversation.
