Death, Grief, and Jesus (Lexington)

Death, Grief, and Jesus (Lexington)

“I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”

– John 11:25-26 (NLT)

This week we paused our Ecclesiastes series to walk our church family through Jesus’ response to death. In the wake of the tragedy that occurred earlier this week, Lead Pastor, John Reeves, wanted to take the opportunity to help our church family process the events, but to also celebrate the life of one of our brothers in Christ, and point us all to Jesus. In John 11 we see Jesus’ response to the death of His friend, Lazarus. There we can see Jesus’ anger at death, His grief at the loss of His friend, and His ultimate power over death. In that, we find great peace and hope. The question we all must wrestle with is, do we believe Jesus’ statement: “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die…” Do you believe Jesus’ words to Martha? Reach out to us and let’s start a conversation about what it looks like to follow Jesus.
