Week 2: He Obeyed Because He Believed

“Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.” (Genesis 15:6). This verse is recounted again in the New Testament (Romans 4:3 and 4:22) and may be the most important verse in the story of Abraham. Our belief in the promise of God is what God credits to us as righteousness (though the promise in Christ is much different than the promise made to Abraham), it helps us to set the “I-beam” of our faith – so that we can have a strong foundation -and keeps us from simply cling to a “trinket”.
