Overcoming Sin Requires the Holy Spirit

This week we looked at how the Holy Spirit provides the power we need to overcome our desire to sin. Darvaris Peterson took us to Romans 7 and Galatians 5:17 where Paul describes the turmoil that happens inside of all Christians –  we have the Holy Spirit within us, but struggle to overcome sin. Darvaris likened it to when he was brought into a new family and had to learn the rules of how to operate inside of that family (from cleaning his room to communicating when he was going to be out past curfew). The Holy Spirit is meant to be a gracious guide in teaching us the new ways of life in Jesus’ Kingdom.

If you have not yet believed in Jesus, this week was an opportunity to look at how we are powerless in defeating sin without the help of the Holy Spirit and the sacrifice of Jesus. If you would like to begin a conversation about following Jesus or would like to talk more about how your story and the Gospel connect, we would love to hear from you. If you have questions, please feel free to ask them here.
