The mission of Bian-Connections is to support college students as they navigate their spiritual, mental, and physical well-being during their academic journey. They believe that the college years are a crucial time for personal growth and development, but can also be filled with challenges and obstacles. Many students face difficulties in finding adequate housing, accessing nutritious food, and affording essential medicines. Additionally, the pressures of academic life can take a toll on their mental health and spiritual well-being.
It is Bian-Connections’ goal to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for these students, where they can thrive both academically and personally. Through our programs, we offer housing assistance, food provisions, and access to necessary medications to ensure that students’ basic needs are met. Furthermore, we provide resources and support for their mental health and spiritual growth, offering community gatherings.
Juan and Rose Vazquez shared the following stories about how their Ministry Grant helped them:
We recognized a growing need for short-term transitional housing for our students, especially during critical times such as the end of the semester. One such instance was when a graduating senior found herself in urgent need of housing right after her graduation. Moved by the Spirit, we decided to convert a space in our home to address these kinds of emergencies. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to set up a room that now houses two students. With your help, we purchased two bed frames and mattresses, allowing us to provide a safe and comfortable space for students who otherwise have little to no support.
Your support also made it possible for us to care for a student who underwent serious knee surgery. We were able to house him, assist him with recovery, and ensure he had the necessary transportation to physical therapy. This act of love and care would not have been possible without your contribution.
In addition, your grant helped us support our students in a unique way by funding their participation in a USC Trott 5K run. This opportunity arose from a running group started by our students, where we meet weekly for practice runs. This initiative has given us another avenue to stay rooted in the Word, and it has strengthened our community and our faith.
We are profoundly grateful for your partnership in this ministry.
