RADIUS Church exists to glorify God by making disciples, planting churches, and living generously.
As Jesus-followers, we are called to go to people on behalf of God and to God on behalf of people. Therefore, we love, build relationships with, and share the Gospel with our neighbors, friends, coworkers, and acquaintances.
Theologies that cannot be sung (or prayed for that matter) are certainly wrong at a deep level, and such theologies leave me, in both senses, cold: cold-hearted and uninterested. – – J.I. Packer
These are wise words for us to consider as we share those things on which we hang our hat. Statements of belief often come across as dry, impersonal, and unemotional, but that is not our intent with the following. Let us be clear on this: the new life we find in the Gospel of Jesus Christ is anything but stale, and without question worthy of singing! So don’t just read the statements below. Instead, take a moment to enjoy, savor, and rest in these great truths: We worship a God that is both good (He loves us and has our best interests at heart) as well as great (He calls all the shots and does as He pleases). Praise God!
RADIUS joins the long line of those who love and follow Jesus in affirming the truths of the Apostles Creed:
We believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
In addition to the Apostles Creed, the following beliefs are shared by historical Christianity and are core to RADIUS.
1. God created men and women in His perfect image as two distinct genders, and together these gender distinctions fully express God’s image. Our rebellion against God has tarnished this image, leaving us enslaved to our sin and deserving His eternal wrath.
2. Jesus’ death and resurrection absorbed God’s wrath over our sin and purchased new life for all who believe in Him. This new life is accessed by faith and brings forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and eternal adoption into God’s family as sons and daughters.
3. The Bible is the story of God’s relationship with mankind, revealing a perfect and loving Creator working to restore a rebellious and sinful creation. The 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament are inspired in their original form and therefore completely true and authoritative.
4. Marriage is a lifelong covenant relationship between a man and a woman that is designed to reflect the relationship between Christ and His church.
