BELIEFS

beliefs

Statements of Belief often come across as dry, impersonal, and unemotional, but that is not our intent with the following. Let us be clear on this: the new life we find in the Gospel of Jesus Christ is anything but stale, and without question worthy of singing!  So don’t just read the statements below. Instead, take a moment to enjoy, savor, and rest in these great truths:

WE WORSHIP A GOD WHO IS BOTH GOOD

He loves us and has our best interests at heart.

AND GREAT!

He calls all the shots and does as He pleases. Praise God!

The Apostles Creed

RADIUS joins the long line of those who love and follow Jesus in affirming the truths of the Apostles Creed:

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

In addition to the Apostles Creed, the following beliefs are shared by historical Christianity and are core to RADIUS.

SALVATION

Jesus’ death and resurrection absorbed God’s wrath over our sin and purchased new life for all who believe in Him. This new life is accessed by faith and brings forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and eternal adoption into God’s family as sons and daughters.

PEOPLE

God created men and women in His perfect image as two distinct genders, and together these gender distinctions fully express God’s image. Our rebellion against God has tarnished this image, leaving us enslaved to our sin and deserving His eternal wrath.

THE BIBLE

The Bible is the story of God’s relationship with mankind, revealing a perfect and loving Creator working to restore a rebellious and sinful creation. The 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament are inspired in their original form and therefore completely true and authoritative.

MARRIAGE

Marriage is a lifelong covenant relationship between a man and a woman that is designed to reflect the relationship between Christ and His church.

Our Mission

RADIUS Church exists to GLORIFY GOD by making disciples, planting churches, and living generously.

MAKING DISCIPLES

We are all called by God to make disciples. This is the mission of the global Church. In order to do this, we aim at equipping believers to lead in Gospel conversations in groups with other Christians, across the table with friends and especially in our homes with neighbors and our families.

PLANTING CHURCHES

Church planting is the best strategy in transforming lives and communities with the life-changing hope of the Gospel. It keeps our church body missional and ready to “go,” it gives our leaders a chance to discover their gifts, and it allows us to multiply disciples.

LIVING GENEROUSLY

The Scriptures teach us that we are to imitate the generosity of our Savior. He modeled for us the generosity of the Father and we, in turn, are to model His generosity to our neighbors. Generosity includes our service to the church and our hospitality to those around us as we seek to glorify God together.

Our Name

Our name comes from this basic premise: Every person has a sphere of influence, or what we would call your radius. As we go about our business, living life in our unique radius, are we going to look like Jesus in the process? Will we love God? Will we consider our neighbors more important than ourselves? Will we obey the truths of scripture? Are we going to be faithful to what God has called us to do in our radius?

So where does your radius begin? It begins in your home and includes those within your walls on a daily basis. Then, we take many laps a week in our world along with a trip or two to church for worship and biblical community.  Watch the video below to learn more!

Guiding Principles

The Bible is true and has authority in our lives.  We see that Scripture proves sufficient during difficult times.  We know it, read it, study it, memorize it, share it, trust it, listen to it, obey it individually and corporately.

When we depend on man we get what man can do, but when we depend on prayer, we get what God can do.  We have daily time with God in prayer.  We pray the truth about God and we pray the truth about ourselves.  We pray with and for others.

A Christian is one who has been adopted by God, welcomed into the family of God, all by the Son of God.  We promote unity by talking to people, not about people.  We love family by bearing and caring burdens for each other.  We model reconciliation with biblical peacemaking.

Every Christian has a job to do.  This means we utilize our gifts and abilities for the building up of the Church.  We discover how God gifted us and wired us.  We discover how to use those gifts and join the work of the church.  We jump in, go to work, and fill the gaps.

We love our radius by noticing others, praying for them, practicing hospitality, and communicating the message of salvation.  We know the names of neighbors where we live, work, and play.  We take responsibility for our radius by asking:  Who are you?  Where are you spiritually?  How can I help take your spiritual next step?
